ANTI-CORRUPTION COMMISSION LAUNCHES NATIONAL ANTI-CORRUPTION STRATEGY (NACS) - 2008-2013 - May 22, 2008 - 2:46:49 PM
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday 19th May, 2008 launched the new National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS) 2008-2013. The ceremony which took place at the British Council Hall at Tower Hill Hall in  Freetown  saw many high profile dignitaries in attendance including His Excellency the President, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma and Vice President, Mr. Samuel Samsumana amongst members of the diplomatic and consular corps and other members of government and civil society. The ceremony was chaired by Mrs. Jamesina King, Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission.

Special Court to Deliver AFRC Verdict on June 20. - Jun 19, 2007 - 9:15:36 AM
Trial Chamber II of the Special Court for Sierra Leone (SCSL) presided over by Justice Julia Sebutinde with Richard Lussick and Theresa Doherty being the other Justices will on Wednesday 20th June 2007 at 11:00 am, deliver judgment in the case between the Prosecutor against Alex Tamba Brima, aka Gullit, Brima Bazzy Kamara aka Ibrahim Bazzy Kamara and Santigie Borbor Kanu, aka 55, First, Second and Third Accused respectively of the Armed Forces Revolution Council (AFRC).

Sierra Leone Parliament Passes the Gender Bills into Law - Jun 15, 2007 - 5:48:07 PM
Yesterday, Thursday 14th June 2007, the Sierra Leone Parliament passed three ‘gender bills’ into law. The new Acts, the Domestic Violence Act, the Registration of Customary Marriage and Divorce Act and the Devolution of Estates Act, will together help to radically improve the position of women in Sierra Leone.

Child Rights Bill passed into Law - Jun 8, 2007 - 4:20:59 PM
The Sierra Leone Parliament passed the Child Rights bill into law on the 7th June 2007. The Truth and Reconciliation Commission report found that the exclusion and marginalization of key social groups like women and children was one of the factors responsible for the conflict.

The Human Rights Commission of Sierra Leone (HRCSL) on Friday 1st July issued a press release in which the Commission drew the attention of the general public to the alleged assault on Mr. Tony Samuel Ojeah, Distribution Manager of Guma Valley Water Company Limited by personnel of the National Fire Force leading to his death on 30th May 2007.
